Hello! This is Jejung Nursing Hospital. On Friday, November 11, 2022, at 2:00 PM, a discussion forum was held in Seminar Room 3 of the National Assembly Members’ Office Building. At our hospital, QPS (Patient Safety Officer) Director Yang Seon-mi attended. A discussion session was held on the theme of “Prospective Proposals for Building a Safe Medication System”!
Presentation 1: “Domestic Medication Error Occurrence Trends and Improvement Status” - Manager Seo Hee-jung (Central Patient Safety Center) Presentation 2: "Root Causes of Medication Errors and Strategies for Establishing Preventive Measures" - Professor Park Moon-sung (Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, Ajou University Hospital) Presentation 3: “The Role of Nurses in Safe Medication Administration” - Lee Eun-hwa, Vice President of the Nursing Department (Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital) In particular, amid the reality that as treatment methods among medical staff become more diverse, the problems of confusion and difficulty in medication administration are growing. Medication involves multiple stages such as prescribing, dispensing, preparing for administration, and taking the medication, so there are many opportunities for errors to occur, It is said that work procedures differ depending on the healthcare institution’s environment and the staff’s level of work proficiency. National Assembly members Choi Yeon-sook of the People Power Party and Nam In-soon of the Democratic Party of Korea delivered the opening remarks. The discussion began with a greeting from President Shin Kyung-rim of the Korean Nurses Association.
According to patient safety statistics, fall accidents ranked first as the highest, followed by medication accidents. In particular, our discussion was an intensive discussion on forward-looking proposals for building a safe medication system. It was a valuable time to discuss various improvement measures related to medication and identify issues. We must prevent such accidents from happening in advance, and especially approach our work with heightened awareness through safety education.
It was a day that made me think of many things because of this discussion forum. Going forward, we will prioritize patient safety above all else and comply with safety regulations. Efforts must be made to prevent safety accidents, and Even if an unavoidable incident occurs, we will be a Jesung Nursing Hospital that responds immediately. Thank you always.
